Palmetto General Hospital has announced that its Chief Executive Officer Ana Mederos was named a 2007 “Woman of Virtue” by LatinBiz Magazine, the official publication of Latin Business Club of America. LatinBiz selected 11 professional women in the South Florida community who, through their virtue and hard work, bring about social and economic change, support other women, serve as outstanding role models and demonstrate outstanding performance within their professions to further advance women in their fields.

A native of Cuba, Ana Mederos began her medical career as a registered nurse at Hialeah Hospital. The one-on-one patient interaction inherent in that position taught her the importance excellent listening plays in understanding and solving problems, a skill she then used to ascend the corporate ranks and earn positions as chief executive officer of Tenet Healthcare Corporation’s North Shore Medical Center in Miami, Hialeah Hospital and, currently, Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah. While at each hospital, she has distinguished herself as a leader who is able not only to succeed, but also to expand her responsibilities to include initiating and responding to the growth of her employees and the community she serves.
