Unique Festival of Holiday Trees Lights Up the PBCMS&S Starfish Gala
Not too long ago, the Palm Beach County Medical Society Services searched for a fresh, novel idea for their Silent Auction. The association’s annual Gala raises funds to support their valued services such as Project Access, which offers sometimes lifesaving health care for low-income, uninsured Palm Beach County residents. This year’s Starfish Gala, set for November 17 at the Kravis Center’s Cohen Pavilion, will for the fourth year showcase the Festival of Holiday Trees & Lights — a unique and visually exciting array of nearly 40 decorated 4-foot lighted trees that are available by silent auction.
Trees are adorned in all manner of themes such as holidays, seasonal wonders, sports, pets, movies, jewelry and gems, chocolate, fashion and much, much more. The sky’s the limit on creativity and design. And the most imaginative, lavishly designed trees filled with color and texture will drive the bidding to the highest peaks — a win-win for all participants. Ultimately, the highest bid for each tree becomes a donation to the Palm Beach Medical Society Services.
Designers receive many benefits from signage, program listings, invitation to the reception prior to the Gala, and a tax-deductible donation letter, among other benefits. In addition, judges will award winners in the following categories: Whimsical Masterpiece, Holiday Traditions, Creative Genius, Made Me Smile, Most Unusual/Unique and Judges Choice.
In addition to Project Access, all funds help support the Medical Reserve Corps, which organizes volunteers to support local public heath, while advancing the priorities of the U.S. Surgeon General including improving health literacy, promoting disease prevention, eliminating health disparities and enhancing public health preparedness such as assistance recently with Hurricane Irma. Also, the Medical Education program receives support to aid medical students, residents and Florida’s future physicians.
