Dr. Sonya Tuerff is medical director for endovascular surgery at Memorial Hospital West and Memorial Hospital Miramar. In that role, she is passionate about organizational management, improving the delivery of patient care, and growing Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute to meet the needs of the South Florida community.

“The vascular surgery team at Memorial provides excellent, state-of-the-art, comprehensive care, and I love the immediate impact we’re able to have on our patient’s lives,” said Dr. Tuerff. “We have the only accredited vascular lab in the area and perform many procedures in the office and on an outpatient basis.”

Memorial was the first in South Florida to perform the DETOUR procedure, a minimally-invasive treatment for peripheral artery disease (PAD) that involves using a stent graft to create a bypass around a blocked artery. As with other procedures Dr. Tuerff performs, it can help relieve symptoms and reduce the chance of the patient having a cardiac event or stroke.
