John Afshar, M.D., is a board-certified, fellowship-trained neurosurgeon on staff at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center and St. Mary’s Medical Center. He specializes in minimally invasive spine and brain surgery. Dr. Afshar earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Georgetown University before completing his neurosurgery residency at Georgetown University Medical Center. He received specialized training at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and Children’s National Medical Center and conducted a research fellowship in brain tumors and cerebrovascular disease at the National Institutes of Health, earning national recognition with the Galbraith Award. He completed further training through a spinal fellowship at Tampa General Hospital/University of South Florida. Dr. Afshar is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurologic Surgery and a member of the Congress of Neurologic Surgeons and the North American Spine Society.
