Steven A. Plato, MD
 
Dr. Steven A. Plato is on staff at Florida Medical Center. He is a cardiothoracic surgeon providing adult cardiac, aortic and endovascular surgery care. Dr. Plato specializes in aortic aneurysm treatment, aortic root reconstruction, aortic valve surgery and mitral valve surgery, as well as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). In addition, Dr. Plato focuses on endovascular aortic surgery procedures including thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). He is certified in vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery and board-eligible in cardiothoracic surgery. For his education and training, Dr. Plato completed a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, CA. In addition, Dr. Plato served as administrative chief resident (2016-2017) during his five-year integrated vascular surgery residency at University Hospitals, Case Western Reserve University located in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Plato finished his basic surgery internship at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, FL. He graduated medical school from Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine, located in East Lansing, MI.

Juan Velasquez, MD
 
Dr. Juan Velasquez is a highly-skilled and experienced interventional cardiologist on-staff at Florida Medical Center, a campus of North Shore located in Fort Lauderdale and North Shore Medical Center in Miami. Dr. Velasquez’s expertise is in the diagnosis, percutaneous management and catheter based treatment for various types of heart disease. Dr. Velasquez specializes in interventional cardiology, structural heart disease, coronary angioplasty, peripheral vascular disease, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) as well as aortic and mitral valve disease. In addition, Dr. Velasquez’s areas of interest include ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) treatment for heart artery blockages which cause serious heart attacks. He also has a special interest in preventive cardiology to help patients lower their risk of heart disease. Dr. Velasquez is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and internal medicine, and completed fellowship-training in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology. He has been practicing medicine since 2000 and is bilingual in English and Spanish.
