November 25, 2019 – In the season of Thanksgiving, Quantum Foundation’s ninth annual Quantum in the Community initiative provided funds for operating support in amounts up to $25,000 to qualifying nonprofits to help meet the basic needs of the county’s most vulnerable residents. For the first time, grants to 123 Palm Beach County organizations totaled $1 million.

“It is a privilege to do what we do,” said Ethel Isaacs Williams, chair of the board of trustees of Quantum Foundation. “It is because of these organizations that Quantum staff and board members wake up excited to work, and the tireless efforts of the people running these grassroots organizations does not go unnoticed. Two words in the English language – ‘thank you’ – are small but they’re packed full of gratitude to these wonderful people for what they do each day for our community.”

The grantee organizations represent all four corners of the county, from Tequesta to Boca Raton and Belle Glade to Riviera Beach. The atmosphere at the event was spirited and filled with gratitude as the organizations receiving funds often rely on this funding to continue their good work in the community.

In 2011, Quantum Foundation board of directors made a commitment to this annual program when surveys showed local nonprofits were struggling to keep their doors open in the troubled economy. Since then, Quantum Foundation has awarded $6.5 million through this initiative, and all of that money stays in Palm Beach County.

Quantum Foundation’s mission is to fund initiatives that improve the health of Palm Beach County residents. In 1998, Quantum Foundation marked its rookie year as one of Palm Beach County’s newest and largest philanthropic organizations with an impressive $7.6 million granted to more than 40 Palm Beach County projects. Just over 20 years later, with assets of approximately $150 million, the organization’s focus remains on keeping Palm Beach County healthy. Their awards to date total more than $140 million and have impacted hundreds of local nonprofit organizations. Every dollar the foundation grants continues to stay in the county to benefit local communities.

One of the grantees, Holy Ground PBC, provides a home and hope for homeless, pregnant, and parenting young mothers and their children in Palm Beach County. “From the beginning, Quantum Foundation has believed in our mission and they provided our first grant in 2012,” said Angela Wing-Allen, Development and Vocational Director of Holy Ground PBC. “Having an organization like Quantum Foundation who gets what we do makes all the difference, and we have grown to be able to afford our own building to house more young mothers in need.”

Applications for Quantum in the Community grants open in the spring every year and funds are awarded each November. To learn more about the Quantum in the Community initiative, please visit www.quantumfnd.org/.
