Roy Cardoso, M.D., FACS, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in conditions of the hand and upper extremity at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care. His clinical interests include treatment of the hand, wrist, and elbow. Dr. Cardoso’s areas of expertise include complex fractures, musculoskeletal injuries, and upper extremity reconstruction. He is particularly interested in sports-related injuries and has the privilege of caring for several professional, collegiate, and high school athletes. Dr. Cardoso is a clinical assistant professor of hand and upper extremity surgery at Florida International University, where he is core faculty for the hand surgery and primary care sports medicine fellowship programs. Moreover, he teaches Medical Students and Athletic Trainer residents. He lectures nationally and internationally on a variety of topics, including nerve, wrist, and elbow injuries. He is involved in both clinical and basic science research and has co-authored a number of medical articles and book chapters. In 2011, he was chosen as a Young Leader by the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is passionate about helping the underserved and has participated in many overseas volunteer medical trips.
