Kushagra Katariya, M.D., FACS, joined Holy Cross Health in November 2025 as medical director and chief of cardiothoracic surgery. The internationally recognized physician leads an expert cardiothoracic surgery team that uses the latest technology and techniques to perform a wide range of lifesaving heart surgeries including coronary revascularization, minimally invasive and trans catheter valve surgeries, aortic surgery and surgery for atrial fibrillation. Dr. Katariya previously worked at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami, at Tucson Medical Center and Pima Heart in Tucson, AZ, and Delray Medical Center in Delray Beach.
In his native country of India, he started and led a group of hospitals performing larger numbers of cardiac surgeries than most hospitals in the U.S. With his legacy in place in India, Dr. Katariya is ready to put his lasting stamp on South Florida and grow Holy Cross Health’s cardiothoracic surgery program from 250 surgeries annually to as many as 800. He has performed more than 15,000 heart surgeries, three times more than the average heart surgeon performs in a lifetime.
