Healthgrades evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 31 of the most common conditions and procedures at nearly 4,500 hospitals across the country to identify the top-performing hospitals. The analysis revealed significant variation between America’s Best 250 Hospitals and those that did not receive the distinction. If all hospitals performed similarly to America’s 250 Best Hospitals, more than 160,000 lives could have been saved.

In fact, patients treated for heart attack at one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals have, on average, a 21.8% lower risk of dying than if they were treated at other hospitals.

“We’re proud to recognize several of HCA Florida Healthcare’s hospitals in America’s 250 Best Hospitals for 2023,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Healthgrades’ chief medical officer and head of data science. “These HCA Florida Healthcare hospitals consistently deliver better-than-expected outcomes for the patients in their communities and are setting a high national standard for clinical excellence.”
