Brooks began her nursing career at Baptist Hospital after graduating from Miami Dade College in 2003. At Baptist, she worked on a medical-surgical unit, fulfilling her requirements for the hospital’s advanced training program, but her dream was to work on an obstetrics unit. In May 2005, she transferred to South Miami Hospital and began her career caring for mothers and babies in their first few hours of life.
