South University is launching a new degree program for registered nurses (RN) who want to pursue their bachelors degree in West Palm Beach. The new RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) completion program allows current nurses to pursue their bachelors degree while employed full time. The RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing completion program at South University is designed to provide professional knowledge and skills to the licensed registered nurse, to support educational mobility and to strengthen community health and leadership abilities of nurses who already have a foundation in the profession, particularly in rural communities.
Students may receive credit for up to 45 credits for nursing experience enabling students to complete their bachelors degree in as little as 12 months. Students may elect to attend full-time and complete the program in one year or attend part-time to meet the demands of their work/shift schedules. Students also have the option of pursuing their degree at South Universitys West Palm Beach campus, online, or through a combination of both through South Universitys Plus+ program. “The aging population of the United States has increased demand for well-qualified nursing professionals,” said Tracey Schoonmaker president of South University – West Palm Beach. “South Universitys RN to BSN completion program will prepare professional nurses for skilled practice well into the 21st century.” While in the RN to BSN program, students will study innovative healthcare concepts including palliative care, gerontological nursing, and complementary and alternative nursing methods. Nurses will learn the skills that will enhance their patient teaching skills along with their ability to motivate and train nursing staff. Nurses will also have the opportunity to develop management abilities by expanding their critical thinking skills in establishing priorities, delegating responsibility and formulating decisions. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Completion program joins South University previously-established Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing (offered online) For more information about South Universitys online programs, call 1-888-444-3404 or visit http://online.southuniversity.edu.
