August 3, 2022 – Board-certified cardiac and thoracic surgeon Steven Hoff, M.D., joins Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, part of Baptist Health. Dr. Hoff specializes in adult cardiac surgery.

“We’re pleased to welcome Dr. Hoff to Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute,” said Joseph McGinn, M.D., chief of cardiac surgery and deputy director of Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. “Dr. Hoff is a national leader in the fields of less-invasive cardiac surgery and heart rhythm surgery, with multiple research trials, presentations and manuscripts in these areas. We know he will be an asset to our patients and team.”

Prior to joining Baptist Health in 2022, Dr. Hoff was a member of the Orlando Health Heart & Vascular Institute, the chief of cardiothoracic surgery at Orlando Regional Medical Center and an associate professor of surgery at the University of Central Florida School of Medicine. Previously, he served as associate professor of cardiac surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he also served as surgical director of the Vanderbilt Center for Atrial Fibrillation, director of the Mechanical Circulatory Support and Cardiac Transplantation program and co-director of the cardiac surgery residency training program.

Dr. Hoff’s research has been published in peer-reviewed publications, including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, and the Annals of Thoracic Surgery. He has published on topics that include less invasive and hybrid therapies for coronary artery disease and atrial fibrillation, as well as minimally invasive mitral valve surgery.

After earning his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Hoff then completed his general surgery residency, cardiac and thoracic surgery residency, and cardiac surgery research fellowship at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Cardiology, and the Heart Rhythm Society. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Southern Thoracic Surgical Association and International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery.

The cardiac surgeons at Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute diagnose and treat heart conditions by performing a variety of complex procedures. These include surgical treatment of heart failure, weakened or malfunctioning heart valves and congenital heart defects in adults. The surgeons also perform transcatheter aortic valve replacements and implant ventricular assist devices.

He will see patients at 8950 North Kendall Dr., Suite 506W, in Miami.
