The celebration will honor leaders, community members and human services programs that support the organization’s initiatives and mission to end homelessness in Broward County
March 8, 2023 – TaskForce Fore Ending Homelessness will host its 20th Anniversary Celebration and Awards Ceremony on March 30, 2023, beginning at 6:30pm at the Tower Club in Fort Lauderdale, 100 SE 3rd Ave – 28th Floor.
Award Nominees for Law Enforcement Officer of the Year include Officer Brian Blount, Fort Lauderdale Police Department; Officer Cathy Chastain, Town of Davie Police Department; Officer Dwayne Chung, Hollywood Police Department; Officer Scott Hagemann, Fort Lauderdale Police Department; and Lieutenant Edward Rafailovitc, Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Award Nominees for Elected Official of the Year include, Caryl Hattan, Town of Davie Council Member; Nan Rich, Broward County Vice Mayor; Dr. Ben Sorensen, Founder and President, Sorensen Consulting Inc. and former City of Fort Lauderdale Vice Mayor
Award Nominees for Agency of the Year include, Broward Outreach Center, Broward Partnership for the Homeless, LifeNet4Families, and Multi-Agency Homeless Taskforce.
Award Nominees for City of the Year include, City of Fort Lauderdale, City of Hollywood, City of Pompano Beach.
Award Nominees for Lifetime Achievement include, Pastor Pery Canan, HOPE South Florida; Officer Shawn Keechle, Lauderhill Police Department; Dr. Rebecca McGuire, Director, Broward County Human Services HOSS-D; Julie Solomon, Patient Support Service Coordinator, Broward Health; and Steve Werthman.

As we host this event and continue our work to end homelessness, we realize every day that this will not happen alone. It takes a community to get everyone home.”
Since 1999, the TaskForce has been providing comprehensive services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Through funding from various government, non-profit and charity organizations, the organization provides a path for people to regain permanent housing stability and get connected to critical healthcare and human services.
This event will kick off a series of activities with one overall goal of developing additional resources that allow the organization to provide vulnerable individuals and families with temporary financial assistance payments necessary to help them move into permanent housing.
