January 14 2020 – LeGit’s Downtown Toy Drive Block Party drew record crowds netting nearly $4,000 along with hundreds of toys, bikes, games, books and gifts for children and teens in the care of local non-profits Mustard Seed Ministries and Suncoast Mental Health Center.  Held on the anniversary of his business opening in Fort Pierce, event founder Jose Ruiz of LeGit Cuts Barbershop was extremely pleased with the communities’ response to the toy drive block party.  Talented children from the Boys and Girls Club, Club Pure, Sidekick Martial Arts, Popcorn Skateboards and more took the stage while DJ’s provided entertainment throughout the day.  Attendees were treated to raffle prizes, incredible food including free slices from Crafted Pie and free cupcakes from the Cake Lady Staci Dunn and, Santa visits and photos at Paws Required, crafting with Center State Bank, and a wide variety of vendors and much more.

“We had an amazing turn out.” said Ruiz, “Even before the event with so many downtown business partners and friends stepping up with toy drives and offering to perform at the party, it was incredible all around. Our block party gets bigger and bigger letting us give more and more to our neighbors who need it.” he further commented.   Along with presenting sponsor Sutherlin Nissan of Fort Pierce, the Toy Drive Block Party was able to raise $3,850 with proceeds split evenly between Mustard Seed Ministries and Suncoast Mental Health Center.  “All along, we have worked with these agencies who see clients on the daily with the most need.  They know what will make these families holidays a little more relaxing and helpful.” Ruiz added.
