Baptist Hospital physicians were host to an evening at W. South Beach to honor Latin American colleagues and their innovative contributions to cardiovascular therapies. Hosts and guest speakers for the evening, all esteemed leaders in the international arena of interventional cardiology, were (l-r) Dr. Ramon Quesada of Baptist Cardiac & Vascular Institute in Miami; Dr. Juan Granada and Dr. Martin Leon both of New York City; Dr. Oscar Mendiz of Buenos Aires; Dr. Julio Palmaz of San Antonio; Dr. Valentin Fuster of New York City; and Dr. Barry T. Katzen, founder of Baptist Cardiac & Vascular Institute. The event took place during the weeklong Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics Scientific Symposium in Miami Beach, which drew 12,000 participants, of which 4,200 were physicians from out of the country, according to the conference organizer.
