Broward Health announced an affiliation agreement between Chris Evert Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and UHealth Pediatrics, the child health component of UHealth – University of Miami Health System, which will bring a new dimension in pediatric care provided in Broward County.

The first phase will establish a pediatric gastroenterology program. Pediatric gastroenterologists from UHealth Pediatrics have begun treating pediatric patients at Broward Health Weston’s medical offices and outpatient facility. The number of UHealth pediatric specialists based at Broward Health will continue to grow to include other areas of specialization at Chris Evert Children’s Hospital, which currently provides neonatal and pediatric intensive care, a dedicated hematology/oncology program, and physicians and surgeons in more than 40 areas of specialization.

The affiliation will create opportunities to develop centers of excellence in several clinical service areas.

Dr. Patricia Rowe-King, Chief of Pediatrics at Broward Health Chris Evert Children’s Hospital, says the affiliation gives CECH an opportunity to tap into highly-trained, credentialed specialists who can augment current services.
