The West Palm Beach VA Medical Center has earned a perfect score on its recent annual inspection from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its mammography program.
The areas surveyed by the FDA inspector include but are not limited to medical records, quality assurance, medical audit and outcome analysis, staff education and credentialing and quality control. This year was the fifth year in a row that the medical center has received a perfect score in all areas surveyed.
“Our imaging department is extremely proud of our mammography team led by experienced technologists and Board Certified Radiologists,” said Dr. David Mullin, Chief of Imaging Service at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center. “Each day we put an emphasis on providing quality care to our female Veterans and look forward to expanding our program with a dedicated Women’s Imaging department in Fiscal Year 2019.”

This FDA accreditation underscores our staff members hard work and dedication toward our ability to deliver the best care for our Veterans.”
The FDA is the oversight authority for federal facility inspections under the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) of 1992. Congress enacted the MQSA to ensure that all women have access to quality mammography for the detection of breast cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages.
