September 2, 2021 – Westside Regional Medical Center is proud to receive American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines recognition in three categories. This national recognition highlights the rigorous quality measures Westside Regional Medical Center implements for cardiovascular, stroke and diabetes care, leading to improved patient outcomes and enhanced lifesaving efforts.

Nearly half of all adults in the U.S. have experienced some form of cardiovascular disease – including heart attack, stroke and heart failure. For patients who experience a stroke or major cardiovascular event, time is of the essence.

This recognition not only emphasizes Westside’s commitment to excellence in cardiovascular and stroke response, but highlights its evolving capabilities and response times, which are critical for patient recovery.

“Westside Regional Medical Center is proud to be recognized once again by the American Heart Association for our advancements in cardiovascular, stroke and diabetes care,” said Barbara Simmons, RN, CEO. “This recognition is a testament to the work and commitment of our caregivers at Westside. After a stroke or cardiovascular event, getting immediate care is critical for patients to make a full recovery, and I’m proud at the enhanced response times we are able to provide with our EMS partners, and clinical leaders.”

This year, Westside Regional Medical Center received the following Achievement Awards from the American Heart Association:

  • Get With The Guidelines Stroke Award (AHA) Gold Plus
  • Get With The Guidelines Stroke Award (AHA) Target Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
  • Get With The Guidelines Stroke Award (AHA) Target Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll
