Before you react, let me clarify there is a huge difference between vendors and true business partners. The difference between the two can have a dramatic impact on the success of your organization. Let’s face it, sales representatives get paid to say great things about their companies. Based on how well they say it, determines which organizations we choose. No matter if it is a product or service, a one-time sale or a long-term contract; everyone relies on outside companies. Are those companies helping your cause? Take a hard look at the folks you do business with and figure out what category each one falls: vendor or business partner. A vendor only cares about the transaction. They view your organization as simply another customer; just another invoice. At the end of the day, they really have zero concern for your goals or patient care. Maybe someone in purchasing was looking for the best price and found them; so you are getting what you paying for, nothing more. Now consider the opposite. When you compare a vendor to a business partner, there is a huge difference. These business partners have a vested interest in helping your team deliver high quality patient care. When you talk to their people, look at their website and do business with them, there is a sense of urgency about helping achieve your objectives. In every industry there are great companies who pride themselves not only on exceptional customer service, but by figuring out what is really important to their clients and delivering on it in spades. Seek out and do business with these types of organizations. Think of the power if everyone on your team and all of the companies who support them were all aligned around helping deliver patient care. Changing out your vendors for business partners will drive your top line, drive your bottom line and help you deliver outstanding patient care. So fire all your vendor and hire business partners! You will achieve excellent results.
