To kick off Breast Cancer Awareness month, Baptist Health hosted its annual pink truck unveiling event on Friday, September 30. Centered around educating the community on the importance of early detection, the eye-catching, interactive, vehicle is flanked with various “facts that save lives” and will make stops throughout South Florida during the month of October.
On site at the event, employees and guests got a first look at the truck and they heard from physicians regarding the latest advancements in breast cancer treatment.
Each year in the United States, about 264,000 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in women and about 2,400 in men, according to research. Over the years, research, clinical trials and new technologies have transformed the way we approach breast cancer care.
At Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health, physicians have adopted a personalized approach to care, leading patients with breast cancer to longer survivorship. Through a multidisciplinary approach, a team led by a female breast cancer surgeon is leading our patients down the road to recovery.
