Physicians and patients at Broward Health Imperial Point Medical Center (IPMC) now have fast and easy access to radiology test results through the acquisition of the Philips iSite Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS). Broward Health recently signed a multi-year contract with Philips Medical Systems to install this state-of-the-art radiology equipment at all Broward Health facilities. PACS allows physicians and other members of IPMCs healthcare team to have direct access to digital radiologic images and reports instantaneously from even remote locations. This will improve the turnaround time in medical decision-making and ultimately in quality.
Patients also benefit from having a PACS enabled hospital as they no longer have to worry about bringing films to their doctors or misplacing them. One set of images can be viewed from multiple locations simultaneously. When a radiologic procedure is completed, such as an MRI, the images are instantly produced for the radiologist to view and can be sent to the patients primary care physician at the same time.
