Miami Children’s Hospital is the first freestanding childrens hospital in Florida to offer patients and their families GetWellNetwork®, an innovative bedside system that provides interactive educational tools, internet access, an online hospital guide and entertainment resources through in-room televisions.
The GetWellNetwork PatientLife System® affords patients and their families opportunities to learn about medical procedures through specialized English and Spanish-language videos designed with kids in mind. Caregivers can prescribe videos related to the childs condition to help families know what to expect. Through this system, pediatric patients and their families can access interactive education tools at the touch of a button. Upon turning on the in-room television, the child receives a personalized welcome message on the screen. Using a wireless keyboard and a hand-held device, the patient and family can navigate through the simple on-screen menu. At the bedside, they receive information on hospital services, interactive educational tools, opportunities to communicate with family and friends via the internet, and entertainment resources including Movies on Demand, of newer, child-appropriate movies and games. In addition, patients can directly notify staff of any special requests or concerns and provide feedback about the hospital.
