Broward Health North’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit Spinal Cord Injury Program received an $8,440 Quality of Life grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. The Quality of Life program awards grants to fellow nonprofit organizations that mirror the Reeve Foundation’s mission and commitment to foster community engagement, enhance independence and promote healthy daily living.
Mary Milburn, DPT, and Jill Zongolowicz, MOT, OTRL, were instrumental in securing the grant. The grant will be used to purchase current durable medical equipment that will assist in the care of the patients. Patients’ families and caregivers will be trained and educated in the safe and proper use of the equipment so that patients can be safely discharged to the community.
