October 30 2020 – Gino Santorio, President and CEO of Broward Health, has been appointed to the Florida Hospital Association’s (FHA) Board of Trustees. On Oct. 22, Santorio formally joined 16 board members who are led by Mary Mayhew, FHA’s president and CEO. Mayhew most recently served as Secretary of the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (ACHA).
 
As a board member, Santorio, will assist in advocating for more than 200 Florida hospitals at the state and national levels to secure funding and resources for patients and the communities the healthcare systems serve.
 
“I look forward to serving among the state’s many great healthcare leaders,” said Santorio. “The Florida Hospital Association unifies hospitals across Florida to help ensure the public has access to quality healthcare. I’m proud to be a part of fulfilling that mission.”

Santorio leads more than 8,000 employees at one of the nation’s largest healthcare systems. Under Santorio’s leadership, Broward Health has embraced innovative solutions to healthcare needs. Genomics, telehealth and robotics have been integrated across the healthcare system, resulting in significant growth in surgical services across the system and within the Broward Health Physician Group.
Santorio, who has more than 15 years of healthcare experience, has been recognized for his commitment to excellence. He was recognized as a 2020 South Florida Business Journal Power Leader and was honored with Sun Sentinel’s 2019 Excalibur Award, as well as the 2018 South Florida Business & Wealth Up & Comer Award in the healthcare category and Becker’s Hospital Review’s Healthcare Leaders Under 40. 
Santorio has a master’s degree in public administration from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at the University at Albany in New York, a bachelor’s degree in business leadership from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York, where he graduated magna cum laude, and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), a professional certification sponsored by ACHE.
