October 1 2020 – Broward Health Medical is proud to announce the re-certification of its pulmonary rehabilitation program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). This certification recognizes Broward Heath Medical Center’s commitment to enhancing patient quality of life by augmenting standards of care. The AACVPR program certification is valid for three years.

“Broward Health Medical Center is proud to receive this certification, as it highlights our dedication to providing the highest quality of pulmonary rehabilitation care for our patients,” said Heather Havericak, CEO, Broward Health Medical Center. “Our hospital has developed a comprehensive program that includes exercise, diet, behavioral health and education.”

AACVPR-certified programs are leaders in the pulmonary rehabilitation field because they offer the most advanced practices available and have proven track records of high-quality patient care. The Pulmonary Rehabilitation program at Broward Health can often help people with pulmonary problems such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and respiratory symptoms recover faster and live healthier.
“Pulmonary rehab has become an integral part of treatment for our pulmonary patients and it has been shown to be just as important as some of the medications,” said Glenn Singer, M.D., medical director of pulmonary rehabilitation at Broward Health Medical Center. “We take people who have been sitting and getting them walking, people who are walking and getting them on treadmills and bikes. It’s a terrific program, and the certification underscores that we are doing it at a level that meets national standards.”
