March 8, 2023 – Clovis Moodie, a life-long educator and health advocate, has been elected to the board of trustees at Palm Health Foundation. Ms. Moodie joins a board of seventeen community leaders chaired by David Wisehaupt, Managing Director of Wisehaupt, Bray Asset Management/ Hightower.
Ms. Moodie, a Boynton Beach, Florida resident, retired from being a full-time educator in 2016 after spending 40 years working with and providing support to children, teachers, parents, and administrators. She has devoted countless hours to working with others to develop strategies for investigating and navigating systems to acquire resources as their quality of life became impacted by disabilities, chronic illness, the aging process, incapacitating health issues, or otherwise. Her mantra has been, “Help is available, one has to be diligent, and one has to keep knocking on doors.”
Ms. Moodie was first introduced to Palm Health Foundation through its Healthier Boynton Beach initiative, which aims to support and improve the lives of family caregivers. At the time, Ms. Moodie cared for an aging and chronically ill loved one and found resources to improve her activities and daily living through the initiative. Ms. Moodie’s involvement with the foundation expanded to include her appointment to its Community Investment Committee.
Patrick McNamara, president and CEO of Palm Health Foundation, recognized the value of Ms. Moodie’s insights and expertise to the foundation while she served on the committee. “Clovis’s wisdom has guided our committee through numerous grant-making decisions, and the foundation benefits from her knowledge and passion for building a culture of health across Palm Beach County,” McNamara said. “We are fortunate to have her guidance as a trustee as we grow our impact.”
Professionally, Ms. Moodie has worked as an education consultant, a leadership development consultant, a classroom teacher, a workshop developer/facilitator, and coordinator of several programs and systems. Her work has benefited thousands of individuals who were experiencing disabilities or who participated in her training opportunities across several states.
“As an educator, Palm Health Foundation’s work to advance health equity and resident wellness across our diverse community deeply resonates with me,” said Ms. Moodie. “I look forward to supporting the foundation’s vision to see all Palm Beach County residents thrive and reach their full health potential as a member of the board.”
With her strong experience in leadership, education, and collaboration, Ms. Moodie currently serves the community in a number of ways. She is vice chair of the Arts Advisory Board for the City of Boynton Beach and the Adopt a School coordinator for the Florida State Leadership Conference where she oversees the organization’s partnerships with 67 chapters across the state of Florida. She is an active member and past president of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Omicron Delta Zeta Chapter. As a member of Chapter EX of Philanthropic Educational Organization, she serves on several committees and as the corresponding secretary. Ms. Moodie is the treasurer of the Zeta Pearl Foundation and previously served as the secretary of KOP Mentoring Network, a local nonprofit organization.
Ms. Moodie earned her Bachelor of Education degree at Florida Atlantic University. She also has a Master of Arts degree in Special Education from Florida Atlantic University and a Master of Arts degree in Education Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Clovis Moodie is the mother of Monica Butler and Kiesha Moodie. She is the grandmother of two amazing and adorable boys.
