For Jonathan Richburg, serving as an Army medic laid the foundation for a career in emergency medicine. The military taught him to stay calm under pressure, make life-or-death decisions and find fulfillment in providing care to people at their most vulnerable state. That experience sparked his passion for the emergency room where the pace and urgency mirror his time in service.
“Patients are my daily motivation,” Richburg said. “They remind me why compassion, skill and resilience matter in this work.”
Now a registered nurse in Broward Health North’s emergency department, Richburg leads care for Level I trauma patients and is training as a charge nurse. He began at Broward as a nurse extern while in school and has since grown into his role with nearly three years at the health system and almost two as an RN.
Richburg earned his associate degree in nursing from Jersey College School of Nursing.
