Carol Katzell, BSN, RN, is a respected Patient Safety Officer and member of the Risk Management Team at Holy Cross Health. Her goal is to achieve Zero Harm to patients, colleagues and the community. Katzell has been devoted to nursing for more than 40 years, 21 of them at Holy Cross. She is a fearless, loyal leader who has implemented innovative ways to improve patient safety and doesn’t hesitate to speak up in high-stakes meetings or initiate challenging conversations. Her professionalism, passion, dedication, excellence and knowledge are an inspiration to those around her. In 2024, the Boca Raton resident was named Leader of the Year. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton and has experience in post anesthesia, critical care, endoscopy and outpatient surgery, as well as a surgical clinical reviewer for the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program. She is a master trainer for Team STEPPS (Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety) and chairs several committees including the Patient and Colleague Safety Committee, Fall Prevention Committee and Alarm Management Committee.
