March 5, 2020 – In another sold out event, the tenth annual Holy Cross Hospital Golf Classic at Coral Ridge Country Club raised more than $172,000 for Partners in Breast Health, a community outreach program that provides healthcare to underserved women in Broward County.

Golfers and guests were treated to a full day of festivities and a generous lunch before hitting the links. A decorative ice sculpture was the centerpiece for the fabulous post-golf buffet dinner. An active silent and live auction featured gift baskets, dinners, trips and golf-related accessories, bringing in additional funds for Partners in Breast Health.

The Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation was the presenting sponsor of the sold-out event and Stiles served as the title sponsor for the tenth consecutive year. Additional sponsors included Goldman Sachs and Gunther Motor Company as the Champion Sponsors, Dan Provenzano as the Lunch Sponsor, Sheri and Don Whittington as the Awards Sponsor and the Wheelchair Foundation as the Awards Dinner sponsor. Phil Smith Automotive generously sponsored the two hole-in-one prizes.

"Partners in Breast Health has helped save the lives of thousands of women in South Florida," said Golf Classic Chairperson Sheri Whittington, who helped start the tournament with the late Doreen Koenig, now recognized as Chair Eternal. "This Golf Classic is one of the most anticipated of the year and continually sells out. We are forever grateful to our golfers, sponsors and supporters who come together to support Partners in Breast Health."

Holy Cross Hospital’s Partners in Breast Health provides women with mammograms and diagnostic testing in the hope of reducing late-stage breast cancer diagnosis and cancer mortality through early detection.

The program accesses the services of the Holy Cross Hospital’s mobile medical health unit and community outreach staff to visit underserved communities that have the highest percentage of poor-quality health indicators and residents who are uninsured and lack access to healthcare.  Since the program began providing access to screening and diagnostic mammography services in November 2011, more than 7,000 services have been provided to women in our community. Fifty percent of women diagnosed through the program are under 50 years of age.
