The Lake Erie Consortium for Osteopathic Medical Training (LECOMT) and Larkin Community Hospital (LCH) recently announced approval from the American Osteopathic Association’s (AOA) Program and Trainee Review Committee to start a new medical residency training program in Family Medicine.
The AOA granted the hospital approval to train 18 medical residents in Family Medicine.
The main training site for the Family Medicine Residency Program will be Larkin Community Hospital’s recently acquired Palm Springs Campus, a 247-bed acute care hospital in Hialeah.
"We are delighted to partner with LCH to develop graduate medical education training to help alleviate the shortage of primary care physicians in South Florida and the United States," said Richard Terry, D.O., Chief Academic Officer of LECOMT.
