March of Dimes announces Miami Children’s Hospital’s Jackie Lytle Gonzalez and Nancy Humbert will chair the inaugural Nurse of the Year recognition, which aims to honor registered nurses, nurse midwives, nurse practitioners, and licensed practical nurses, and student nurses in 15 categories.
 
Jackie Gonzalez, ARNP, MSN, NEA-BC, FAAN, is Senior Vice President for Patient Care & Chief Nursing Officer at Miami Children’s Hospital. She is nationally regarded as a nursing leader and has devoted the last 30 years of her career to quality improvement and patient/family directed care in children’s healthcare at the regional and national level as well as to leading strategic workforce planning efforts for nursing in the state of Florida, while impacting children’s healthcare across the nation. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill School of Nursing and her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Miami.
 
Nancy Humbert, ARNP, MSN, is Senior Vice President for Strategic Business Planning & Public Affairs and Chief Hospitality Officer at Miami Children’s Hospital. She is responsible for the leadership and management of the departments of marketing, public relations, government relations, strategic business planning, business development and hospitality. Nancy received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Florida State University and her master of science degree in nursing from Florida International University.
 
Nurses working in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties demonstrating excellence in providing care, comfort, and support to patients will be honored in 15 categories. The winners will be announced at a celebration honoring the recipients on November 4, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at the InterContinental Hotel Doral Miami.
