Mariners Hospital announces the completion of the expansion of its medical laboratory. The $1 million project, which began last year, added 400 feet to the laboratory. That increase, plus reconfiguration of space, created room for new and backup laboratory equipment. Pictured at the ribbon-cutting ceremony are (l-r) Jay Hershoff, chairman of the Mariners Hospital Board of Directors; Jerry Hirsch, chairman of the Mariners Hospital Foundation Board of Directors; Claudia Stober; Carol Luse; Betty Anne Schilling; Dr. Zhiming Li, laboratory medical director; Sunne Rego; Deena Brito, laboratory administrative director; and Nelson Lazo, Mariners CEO. Stober, Luse, Schilling and Rego are members of the Bougainvillea Ball Committee, which raised more than $80,000 to help defray the cost of expanding the hospitals medical laboratory.
