A Miami Dade College (MDC) professor has been selected by a panel of service-learning practitioners as the winner of the 2011 Florida Campus Compact (FCC) Service-Learning Faculty Award in the state of Florida college sector. Miriam Del Campo, a 22-year biology professor from the Kendall Campus, believes that every student has the potential to learn and apply information to make a difference in society and has a role in the sustainability of life on Earth.
 
Professor del Campo’s preferred teaching method is through service-learning, which is the most direct avenue for students to acquire and immediately utilize content-related material in a significant and meaningful manner.
