LeadingAge, a national organization dedicated to making America a better place to grow old, has named Miami Jewish Health Systems, Marc Agronin, M.D., the recipient of its 2013 Excellence in Research and Education Award. The award annually recognizes individuals and non-profit organizations across the country that expands the world of possibilities for aging. Dr. Agronin, who has served as Miami Jewish Health Systems Medical Director for Memory Health and Memory Programs since 1999, focuses his work on the positive elements behind aging and combating Alzheimer’s and other related memory disorders.In addition to his role overseeing the Mental Health and Memory Center at Miami Jewish Health Systems, Dr. Agronin has served as a principal investigator for dozens of clinical trials for Alzheimer’s disease, age-related depression, psychosis and behavioral disturbances. In September 2013, Miami Jewish Health Systems opened the Girsh Memory Enrichment Institute, of which Dr. Agronin not only chairs but also oversaw its design and staffing.
