Miami VA Healthcare System has offered hospice and palliative care for veterans with life-limiting illnesses for more than a decade. Recognizing the needs to improve End of Life Care (EOL) at MVAHS, the facility leadership placed the establishment of the hospice and palliative care unit as a number one priority in 2008. A dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony recently marked the opening of this brand new collaborative hospice unit located on the 3rd floor of the Community Living Center.
With unwavering commitment and strong leadership, our Veterans are now able to receive high quality EOL care and palliative care services in this newly established hospice and palliative care unit.
The 10 rooms wing has been refurbished with new flooring, fresh paint, and home-like décor. The large rooms are private with TVs and furnishings resembling home. Each room is equipped with a pull-out couch so families can stay with their loved one if they desire.
