Dr. Casey Young’s path to a career in neurology began before medical school, during a time he provided care for a grandfather in the final stages of Parkinson’s disease. The experience sparked his interest in movement disorders and set him on a course that led him to specialize in not only Parkinson’s, but also tremors, dystonia, ataxia and myoclonus.
“I completed a two-year fellowship in movement disorders, where I gained expertise in both hypokinetic (reduction in movement) and hyperkinetic (increased movement) disorders, which includes Parkinson’s disease,” said Dr. Young, whose training was completed at Mount Sinai in New York. “I’m also a clinical expert in deep brain stimulation for movement disorders and perform EMG-guided chemodenervation for focal dystonia.”
Dr. Young takes a holistic approach to care, tailoring education and management decisions to align with each patient and family’s preferences. His ultimate goals are to help patients regain function, maintain independence and live the best quality of life possible.
