For more than 34 years, Loren Walker, R.N., has dedicated her life to caring for others, including 29 years at Broward Health. A chemotherapy-certified nurse in the infusion room at Broward Health North’s Cancer Center, she blends clinical expertise with deep compassion.

Her path began at age 15, caring for a paraplegic neighbor, followed by work in a nursing home and home health, where she honed her IV infusion skills. Today, she cares for patients undergoing outpatient chemotherapy, with treatments lasting up to eight hours.

That connection makes a lasting impact. “We’ve had patients tell us, ‘You make me forget that I have cancer,’” she said. “That’s everything.”

Walker credits her colleagues as her “found family.” Along with her team of Doris, Nakeitta, Sonja, Leslie, Jillian, Rachele, Nike, Corey and Brian, she said they create a seamless, supportive environment.

“It’s hard work, but you know you’ve made a difference every day,” she said. “That’s why I love what I do.”
