Lourdes Camps, Chief Nursing Officer at Tenet’s Hialeah Hospital, was the Keynote speaker at Florida National College’s (FNC) first Nursing Pinning Ceremony, which was held on October 6, 2011. It was a very special, moving, and emotional Pinning Ceremony, and history in the making for FNC’s first RN graduates. Camps delivered a compelling keynote speech as she welcomed FNC’s Nursing graduates into the nursing profession. Students, faculty, administrators, dignitaries, and guests attentively listened as she spoke and captivated the audience. Camps stated “You are entering the nursing profession at a time of great opportunity in health care.” She shared her ideas, vision, and experiences as a “veteran nurse” of what it means to be a novice nurse, the future of nursing, and the role that the “FNC Nursing graduates will play as newly licensed nurses in a reformed health care system.” Camps commended and praised the Nursing graduates on their accomplishments, and recognized their families for supporting them.
