Yerby Barker has been named chairman of the South Miami Hospital Board of Directors.
Barker is president of Barker Insurance Agency, a full service insurance agency located in Kendall. Barker has been involved with South Miami Hospital for more than three decades. He has been on the hospital’s Board of Directors since 1992. He has served as president of South Miami Hospital Associates, a group of business leaders who raise money to support the hospital. He also has chaired the South Miami Hospital Foundation, and the annual golf classic and Mercury Ball. In 1994, Barker was honored as South Miami Hospital’s Person of the Year.
