During the week of Thanksgiving many of us lost a community leader, friend, mentor and most importantly a mother and grandmother. Cristina Jimenez began her career at Coral Gables Hospital and served in various roles for over a more than 30-year span. Cristina was an exceptional leader who dedicated her entire career to the health and well-being of the patients at Coral Gables Hospital. She worked hard to create a workplace environment that allowed employees to thrive. She always had an open-door policy.

Cristina was involved in helping the hospital achieve designations as the first in Miami-Dade County to earn The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for both total hip and total knee replacements. We are all grieving this huge loss. She touched every life that she met. Her favorite holiday was Halloween. When October first rolled around the hospital and the administrative office would be decorated and everyone would get into the spirit especially when we would have her annual costume contest in the cafeteria.

Cristina was the perfect person to lead Coral Gables Hospital because of her commitment to the hospital and her continued perseverance to deliver expert care to our community. All of us will truly miss her.
