Lessons learned nearly 30 years ago continue to shape the leader Jon Pickett is today.
“I began my healthcare career as a patient transporter, a role that taught me responsibility, the importance of hard work, and the value of every role at a hospital,” said Pickett, now vice president of operations at Memorial Regional Hospital. “I learned that every job is meaningful and contributes to the quality and safety of patient care, and that leadership isn’t just about making decisions, it’s how you treat people, how you listen, and how you perform every day, regardless of your title.”
In his current role, Pickett focuses on supporting his team, removing barriers, and creating an environment where individuals feel valued, trusted, and are motivated to do their best work. He describes himself as a “servant leader” that learned from mentors the importance of investing in people and the lasting impact that can have.
