Sathvi Gandra, 21, is a dedicated volunteer at Broward Health Medical Center, where she serves as a patient coordinator in the emergency department. Her passion for medicine was sparked at a young age, inspired by her grandfather.
“My goal is to help underserved communities by providing social and emotional support at their bedside,” Gandra said.
Since May 2024, the Colorado native has volunteered across several departments at the 716-bed hospital, including the pediatric hematology-oncology outpatient clinic, where she worked with sickle cell and pediatric cancer patients. She has also volunteered in same-day surgery and, most recently, the emergency department.
“I enjoy uniting patients with their loved ones in the emergency department,” Gandra said. “Being able to support my community during some of their most vulnerable moments is a privilege.”
Gandra is currently a junior at Nova Southeastern University, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and biology.
