The Burn Center Verification /Consultation Program, established in 1995 by the American Burn Association and American College of Surgeons, does not designate burn centers, but verifies that a center is demonstrating its commitment to providing the highest quality care to its patients. In order to be verified, burn centers undergo an on-site hospital review by a team of experience surgeons to see if the center meets criteria that ensure burn care capabilities and performance as outlined by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma.
